Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 10, 2026
At The Auto Print, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, including merchants and their customers. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you use our application (the “App”) available on the Shopify App Store and Microsoft Store.
1 Information We Collect
To provide automated background printing services, the App requires access to specific data types from your e-commerce store (e.g., Shopify):
-
•
Order Information: Order ID, customer shipping address, product titles, quantities, prices, and fulfillment status. This data is strictly required to generate and format print jobs (receipts, packing slips, shipping labels).
-
•
Shop Information: Shop name, shop email, shop owner name, and store currency to manage your account and subscription.
-
•
Device Information: Technical logs from the desktop client (Windows, macOS, Linux,..) client application to ensure connection stability with local printers.
2 How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
- To execute automatic local network printing as requested by the merchant.
- To communicate with the merchant regarding app updates, troubleshooting, and support.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
Data Minimization & Ephemeral Processing
We enforce strict data minimization. Order and customer data processed by the App is processed ephemerally (in-memory) for the sole purpose of sending print jobs to your local printer spooler. We do not permanent store or harvest customer personal data on our cloud databases.
3 Data Retention and GDPR Compliance
We respect data privacy laws, including the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Mandatory Webhooks: Our infrastructure is fully integrated with Shopify’s Mandatory GDPR Webhooks (
customers/data_request,customers/redact, andshop/redact). - Data Deletion: If a merchant uninstalls the App, all associated configuration data and cached logs will be automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 48 hours.
4 Information Sharing and Disclosure
permanently store sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. We only share information with third-party service providers (such as hosting or cloud database infrastructure) to the extent necessary to run the App’s backend services, under strict confidentiality agreements.
5 Restricted Capabilities Declaration (Microsoft Store)
For the Windows desktop client distributed via the Microsoft Store, the App utilizes the runFullTrust capability. This capability is strictly used to interact with local hardware print drivers and print spoolers to execute silent background printing. It does not access or modify system files unrelated to local printing operations.
5 Browser Extension, API & Messaging Integrations
The Auto Print also offers a Chrome browser extension, a public developer API, and messaging integrations (e.g. Telegram bot). When you use these:
- API keys: your The Auto Print API key is stored locally on your device (browser storage) or on the integration server, and is transmitted only to theautoprint.com to authorize your print jobs.
- Content you print: images, web pages, selections or files are transmitted to our servers only when you explicitly choose to print them. This content is processed ephemerally (in-memory) to render and deliver the print job to your printer, and is not permanently stored, analyzed or shared.
- The extension does not track your browsing history and does not read any page content except at the moment you invoke a print action.
6 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance. We will notify merchants of any significant changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy.
